Here in South Carolina, there have been few artsy opportunities, though yesterday I pulled out a pencil and tried to sketch a few of the people on the other side of the pool. The results were not too impressive and you will not see those scribbles posted here.
As for sketching, I was pleased to see noted in the Sarnia Observer [electronic version] that Marian Bart's Collection of Drawings from 2001 to 2008 - a book of over 100 drawings - is now in the National Gallery of Canada's rare book collection.

The photo to the right was taken from our balcony on the day we arrived. I used my telephoto lens and filled the screen with the reflections from the other shore of our lagoon. Would this be a painting of reflections or would it become an abstract painting as it is? Suggestions?
Thanks for posting Lorna! It appears you are a great photographer as well as a painter. I love the shot and yes it would make a perfect abstract. Maxine Masterfield has written a book "Painting the Spirit of Nature" where her abstracts start from nature. Taking your photo to a painting would maybe call for a repetition of the purple and the blue elsewhere in the painting although I'm no expert. Hope you are having a great vacation in South Carolina.
ReplyDeleteYes.... I see an abstract in the making. Very cool photo Lorna. Have a great vacation.
